What's the best shell fish to feed the puffer? Would it be safe from the grocery store?

I feed my green spotted puffer fresh grocery shellfish all of the time. Shell on shrimp are nice as are mussels, clams, and crab legs. Make sure they are raw and don't smell fishy or of chlorine. Freeze them then defrost them in vitamin water before feeding.

puffer;

Do you put the whole shell in the tank or break them up into smaller pieces?

i add the whole shell and pull it out when their done :) they love steamer clams :) just a pain to open heheh

shells;

Do you reuse the mussel shells or throw them out when fish are done eating?

the mussels and clams are a great tool to use to get your fish to eat. crack the shell just a little, let them open the rest of the way...aftwards, take it out, rinse well and then you can stuff it with other foods you want them to try.
