headless feather duster

I have had this feather duster in my tank for 3 months and tonight while I was doing a 15% water change(with properly acclimated water) when all of a sudden he (or she) lost all its feathers in one clump. It seems like it just fell off, but I did not see anything unusual happen. I take readings before and after the water changes and all were normal.

-Is this normal behaviour? like a shrimp's molt
-Will it grow back?
-Anything I need to do?

Thanks again all for your info

No, it is a sign the duster was stressed in some way.

Under the proper conditions, yes it takes a couple weeks though.

Since this happened during the waterchange, I'd have to point to it as the stressor. Even if the water was the exact same salinity and temp and ph, there are differences between new water and old (otherwise there would be no need for waterchanges). However it is more than likely that the change caused some type of stress on the animal, might be a sudden alteration or lack of current, could be a sudded reduction in some mineral or an influx of another.

Hey reefrunner thanks again. After a 2 week vacation I noticed that the duster's top is back and all looks good. You are my Hero.
