dosing for PH is one of the worst things you can do. When you raise your ph with chemicals it throws you ALK way off, 7.7-8.3 is fine for PH. Stop chasing the perfect numbers, consistency is way more important. Good mainteance and weekly WC is all you need. Im sure you are aware that Carpets eat fish and at some point your fish will get too close and become meals.
