Just out of curiosity, after you first make up a batch of saltwater, get it to the right salinty ( I have mine at 1.022) and test it for PH right after you mix it, is it naturally going to be high?

I decided to test mine after testing the main aquarium ( which I'm still having issues with!!) and it was 8.8. I havent noticed this before.. does it naturally go down when the water is more well mixed / sits for 24 hours in the container? Seems like a newbie question, but I just happened to think.

A steady pH is achieved by good surface ripple, that's where the O2 exchange happens in SW.

In the few times I've test IMMEDIATELY after mixing the salt, yes... the pH is abnormally high. After sitting a day or two, it drops to where it normally is... 8.2-8.3 (Reef Crystals mixed at 1.025).
