Heres my plan.

I've been reading, and such cause having this empty 30gal sitting around is starting to annoy me :p [ In other words, If I don't set it up soon it may become a FW tank for Bolivian Rams.. Curse you Alli! ]

So I've been reading and asking and, ect ect.

So here we go.

30gal tank, 4 inch DSB
20 or 30Gal refuge/sump with a inline pump to move the water back to the tank.

CPR Bak Pak2 Skimmer
4 or 5 Maxi-Jet 900's with prefilter sponges to prevent accidental suckups of fish [ 3 for the main tank, 1 or 2 for the bottom 30gal ]
VHO Florescent,190 watts per tank [ 380watt total.]
30-45Lbs of Keys rock from liverocks.com per tank. [ Some uncured to cyrcle the tank, hopefully]
2 250Watt heaters, One per tank to keep temps in check.
Refractometer
Digital Thermometer

After things get done I'll start with hermits, sandsifters if any can go in this sized tank, and snails and shrimp.

After its stable for a month or two I'll add my first fish after QT in a 20gal tank

Then at a new fish or two every other week or so until I'm stocked.

Stocking, I was thinking of a Lion Fish or a small Moray for the bottom tank, and a few clowns for the top, with anenomes and maybe a few corals to come when the tank is mature.

Does this sound like a good plan?

everything sounds great! You will have to get a dwarf lion though for that sized tank.

I plan on using my tax return to fund most of this buying, so I'm trying to get everything set in stone so I know exactly what I need.

So theres nothing I'm missing?

What your describing is not really a tank and sump/fuge combo but more or less two tanks connected together. By putting the lion fish and eel in the fuge you lose most of its benifits. Both are also large bioload items so they will impact your system more than the fish in the top tank.

There is no real need for powerheads to be in the fuge as the water flow thru it from the overflow/circulation pump is enough. While a fuge needs light I would not consiter it needing the same level of light as the main tank.
