Hey guys,

I did a quick check of my hermit crab population this morning and I could only find about 7 of the 12.

could something be killing them? what are some normal causes of blue-legged hermit crab death. also, is it possible that they would dissapear inside the LR never to be seen again?

I know the answer is rather "vauge" but any ideas would be a help.
thanks!

They are homicidal. If there isn't enough detritus and algae to sustain them they will kill each other. Don't worry they just balance their own population.

i was told that blue legs dont live that long. i have also counted and recognize their different shells. sometimes i dont see one for a couple of days and then he appears again. i have also noticed they change shells with emptys and then change back
