Ditto on the stars. Look at brittle or serpent for cleaning crew additions that won't deplete the sand bed from food and die off.

that explains a lot!!!! I didn't know that about the sandsifters!!! My goby is thin and always looks hungry!

I have the stars because I thought they would be good for keeping my sand looking clean. I will try a brittle or serpent star in their place.

Also, My jawfish stays all the way at the bottom under a rock hole he dug out, so I am not too concerened about him jumping out. Thanks though.

Look into nassarius snails to work the sand bed.
