HOB skimmer in a sump?

I'm trying to reuse as much of my existing equipment from my 20 in my new 40 build. I will use the 20 as the sump, and was wondering if there is any reason not to use the HOB skimmer I have. It's sized for a 75 (eshopps psk 75) so it would have plenty of capacity given the displacement of the sand and rock, and the sump won't be completely filled.

The only issue I foresee is the intake and output tubes may not be long enough...

Would you have enough room to hang it on the back of the sump rather than the display?

There's enough room behind either, I'm just trying to keep the DT as clutter free as possible.
