hole in feather dusters tube

Hello,
Today I noticed a hole about 1 1/2inches from the top where the FD comes out. It was there before. THe FD is still in there, but not coming out as much as usual.
Should I pinch off from the hole up, so it can get out of the tube easier?
And any ideas what could have caused the hole? Snails? Damsels? even though I don't ever notice them bothering the FD.

It should repair the tube itself.

Its probably not comming out as much because it is repairing the tube or ateleast is making preperations.
