How do corals affect the bioload and filtration?

Just wondering how corals affect the bioload and the filtration of the water. Do corals improve the water quality or do they just add a small amount to the bioload?

I know I've read that each coral adds very little to the bioload, making it possible for many corals to be crammed into an aquarium...but i am wondering what, if anything, the corals do for filtration?

Corals do not add anything to your bioload. That is not to say they can not indirectly effect water quality. Be careful when feeding some corals foods like Zooplex or Phytoplex as they can degrade quality over used.

Corals to not really add to filtration either. I have heard that inverts like clams can help reduce NO3 but I have not personaly seen this. Of course, macro algae is also great at NO3 export but that is not a coral
