How do you know when you have a good corraline growth?

Just wondering, how can you tell if you have a good coralline growth and what are the first couple of stages of it? TIA......
 
Not sure if I fully understand what you are asking, but I'll try. :)

IME, coraline started growing on my equipment first. Like my powerheads and HOB. Then it was on the glass. Coraline may also start as a white or green patch before it gains it's purple/red color.

There are a few keys to good coraline growth. The first is good water quality, the second is proper KH or alkalinity(I keep mine around 7 dkh, and the third is a good calcium level (around 400 ppm). From my experience, it doesn't need anything special for lighting. Hope this helps.
