Its not really a how many watts per gallon answer. It depends on the intensity of the lights that you have. You can have 150 watts from a metal halide in a 30 gal tank and keep all sorts of SPS corals. However you can try having 150 Watts from PC's lighting up the same tank and you wont be able to keep the same corals. Things such as Acro's need more intense light, with the watts per gallon, but I think the intensity is more important. HTH

10k metal halides suplemented with acintic VHOs or T5s would be ideal, minimum wattage varies, based on the depth you intend to keep the specimens at, the deeper they are, obviously the higher the wattage, but as a general rule of thumb, the higher the wattage the better.

Montipora Digitata and some capricornis do well under PC lighting. Some acros will live but brown out. SPS can cover a large range. SOme can be fine with PC lights and other you will need Halides.
*180 gal Display, 100 gal basement sump, 33 gal refugium, 3x250 MH, 2x160 VHO actinics, zoos, some softies, LPS & lots of acros and other SPS.
*100 gal prop tank plumbed into main system w/ 2x96 PC lights and 1x150 MH,
