I have a 20 gallon long tank that will have beginner corals soon such as zoas, mushrooms, and some lps. Do I need powerbeads on both sides? If so, how much gph for each one? The tank is 30 inches long.

That depends what is already in there. A more chaotic flow is best, but if you have enough to keep what is in there happy then I wouldn't mess with it. Anything between 20-40 times the water volume would be more than enough.
