It depends on what salinity you wanna keep your tank in. I use about 1.75 mugs per 5 gallons to have 1.025

IO says a half cup per gallon. Make sure you take into account lost volume from rock and sand.

I've read several times 3 cups of reef crystals in 5 gallons of ro water for 1.026 but it takes more for me to achieve that.

I have noted that each brand differs in their salt concentration. I have used several brand and finally settled with Coralife which has more calcium compared with IO Reef Crystals and Kent.

Kent Reef Salt is 1/2 cup per gallon. It really just depends ion what you are shooting for. Reef and FOWLR are usually different ranges.

Do you have a hydrometer? If so just add it a little at a time and check your levels.
