how to clean skimmer? Aqua C urchin

i have an aqua C urchin skimmer, and it says to clean the foam tower twice a week. Ive only been emptying the cup and rinsing since i got it, but i dont understand what it means?


is it somewhere inside after i pull the cup that i clean? i noticed my skimmer doesnt produce as much foam as it used to, so i figured that was the problem.

I have a Aqua C remora and I assume it is similar but maybe not....anyway in mine after you take the cup out, if you look inside there is a white big screw threaded into the top of the assembly. If you get a big screwdriver and take that out, then take a brush and scrub all the collected stuff out of the hole in there. It makes a big difference on mine and is really easy to do.
