They are amazing, I won't be getting one the one in specific that I wanted has only nine months! there is NO way I could deal with that and they are very hard to find, definitely would have to be a special import + i am a novice and want an open tank! Been looking up Mr X's fish and loving the tangs but they are real expensive! so I am veering back to the clownfish, but i have ages to decide yet!

Clown fish are great and easy to keep. Tangs need room to swim. Only person I knew that kept a octopus had a tank that looked like a locked down maximum security prison. The octo can stuff itself thru ridiculously small holes.

I think the conversion is $1 in NZ is .82 in the US that's still really high. I though the saltwater hobby was expensive here haha.

Wow, where are you in NZ? I am in oz and all of those prices are around double what I would pay here (for example $60 regal tang, $30 clownfish, $10 - $20 damselfish) corals can be that pricey if they are large. Is there another option for you?

if i were in oz, i would in IN the sea! NZ is more expensive then Oz and they pay you less! on the flip side, nothing kills you here! i do think the Ozzie weather is better though! Wait till you see the prices for live rock $300 -350 for 25 KG!, it is cheaper to import from Figi! and salt, well that is a different matter! I will get through these prices! there are not many other options here, tradme is one (where I found the tank ) - patience for the bargains!
