I think my tank has a leak

Yesterday I was doing a water change and my front glass had some salt rundown/creeps. At night I noticed that this area near the bottom lip had an excess amount of salt, thinking that it was from the waterchange I just wiped it off. This morning when I woke up I realized that the area where I had wiped it off contained even more salt!!! I think there might be a small leak in that area.

What can I do to prevent the tank from cracking/leaking even more. Can I put some silicone in there? And if so, can I do it was everything already set up? I have livestock, sand and rocks in there.

If it is leaking I'd replace the tank. They generally only get worse.

26 views...i guess no more wants to be liable for their opinions about a leaking tank...well anyways, I'm going to buy a 50 gallon tote to place all my live rocks, sand, and some water in there to maintain the bacteria. Should can i put my fishes in there too?

Well, I've decided to call it quits. Going to *try* and return all my LR to the LFS I got them from. I've got some people that will take the hermits, shrimps, and my lemonpeel. As for the rest of the stuff, I'm going to donate them to the LFS if they don't accept the return.

Why are you calling it quits? As far as the tub idea, everything should be just fine in there. It is the same as your tank now, just without see through sides.

Completely took apart my tank today and found that there was a silicone breach, a part of the silicone looked as if someone took a razor and had sliced it.

If it werent for the leak, I would have gladly continued keeping my tank.

There are other reasons why I'm calling it quits:

1. Earthquake country.
2. Summer's acoming and I don't think my tank will be able to endure the heat. Highest temp my tank has reached was 86F.
3. Renting apartment and don't want to floor the whole place.
4. Earthquake country, Seismotologist predict a 8.0+ earthquake before the start of September.
5. I'm a college student and lately the tank is interferring with my studies...then again its because the tank was leaking...
