Impostance of evaporation

I know I read it somehwere, but can't seem to locate it now. It was an article or a forum post giving a good answer as to why evaporation is important in keeping Ph balanced. Can any one explain it for me?

I may be wrong but if I recall it's really not the evaporation it's the surface aggitation of the water creating a good gas exchange.
Which in turn, surface aggitation increases evaporation.

I agree with Gomer, more surface ripple=more evaporation, but more surface ripple=a higher pH.
