Iodine and Iodide?

This may sound like a stupid question to most but i would rather be safe than sorry, i'm getting ready to do an iodine dip for my finger leather coral and I was wondering if "iodide" and "iodine" were basically the same thing.

No, they are not. The endings "ide" and "ine" are different chemical combos. Example, chloride is not the same as chlorine.
