Is there a general concencis on what items are good?

Im talking about pumps, filters, lighting. Does everyong go for the same type/brand, or is it pretty much all different? Im trying to figure out what companies are good and what arent (and waht products to stay away from)

THE GOOD

Mag Drive pumps are good .

Maxi jet powerheads are great.

Aqua C skimmers are awesome both hang on and in sump.

Coralife makes great Power compacts.

Seachem and ESV are great additives.

Salifert makes great test kits.

Instant ocean and Oceanic salt


THE BAD

Rio pumps are pretty bad.

Anything red sea makes is questionable.

Seaclone skimmers are junk.

Stay away from Jebo products on E-bay

Good:

Egojagger - heaters

Bad:

Cheap heaters

Food:
Good - Ocean Nutrition (flake or frozen) and Omega One (flake), New Life Spectrum (pellets), Two Little Fishies (sea weed)

Bad - anything that is mostly ash or filler

A lot of folks here make what is called blender mush as well which is basically a combination of any of the above ingredients and fresh seafood blended, and frozen into sheets. I will be trying the recipe soon myself.

YES

Actually for the most part everyone usually agrees, but there's always a few things that are cause for heated debate.

EDIT: Thing to always keep in mind is what works for someone may not always work for someone else. And vice versa.
