looks like diatoms, result of a newly cycled tank, should die out quick with water params in check and a good CUC

i've seen this stuff at the LFS in a 300+ gallon tank thats been established for a couple years.

what would be a good clean up crew? i already have a hermit crab (actually changed shells last night overnight)

what size is the tank? chances are it isnt, unless it never died out from overfeeding or lighting being on for too long or just excess nutrients in the tank

this tank has recently just finished cycling correct?

It's diatoms, they happen in new tanks all the time. In a few weeks they'll burn out as long as you do your water changes and keep the lighting down.
