Sure you can use it. There are things to consider though. This is a silica based sand and will have no buffering effect on water quality where aragonite sand will. Also there is circumstantial evidence that silica sand is sharper and can irritate sand dwelling creatures. So, yes if can be used but it isn't generally preffered.
