I am starting this new 132g tank will be keeping at least 6 adult size tangs in future is it necessary to get UV sterilizer as tangs are prone to ich attack? Do I need to install one now when the tank is cycling or after finish cycling? thanks.

To me it is a nice to have item and can aid with ich and other parasutes. Can also be detrimental if you are trying to produce pods in a reef environment for mandarins or other pod eaters.

IMO spend $ on quality filtration and get a UV if it fits your long term plans.

I would be curious as to what your setup plans are?

FYI, 6 tangs is alot even for a 132g.

HTH,

To me IMO they are needed as they do help get rid of ick that is drawn up into the UV light. They also help to get rid of algea spores. I dont think you need one during your cycle. I am concerned about 6 tangs in a 6 ft tank. I have the turbo twist which allows more kill ratio because the water wraps around the light allowing more exsposure. UV lights are the debate of the ages. Good Luck with your tank. I cant wait for pics.
