jawfish substrate

After losing some jawfish for no apparent reason it was suggested to me that the seachem grey calcite substrate I was using was sharp due to its composition and could be damaging the mouths and gills of the fish. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's possible. Never used the Gray Coast before, but googled it and it looks thick and heavy. Jawfish like finer light sand, and a thick sandbed (around 4-5 inches).

Welcome to AA, btw.
