I have a 29g that will be ready for fish soon. I'm going to add a jawfish first and let him settle in. Does anyone have any suggestions on tankmates? I have a 42 with 2 percs, a bangaii and a firefish, so I don't want any of those. I really like copperband butterflys. I know they can be difficult. Will they get too big for a 29? Also, would 2 jawfish coexist in a tank this size?

No Way , copperbanded butterfly fish will definatley outgrow the 29 Gallon , if i were you i'd get 2 Jawfish , they do great with the presance of their kind and i would also get a different clown or royal gramma , their great fish

i think a royal gramma might need more room to swim than 29 gal.

but you could get a watchman goby or a bicolor blenny, they have tons of personality.
