Got my feather duster in the tank, looks great! It's all fanned out already. My question is, am I supposed to leave it laying on top of the sand? Or do I bury the end? Do these things move on their own?

No they dont move on their own. I would bury the end to keep it from getting moved around. I actually slid one of mine down a hole in a piece of LR because my crabs kept moving it around.

mine moved on it's own... I'd rather it have stayed where I put it, but it felt it needed to bury itself in a cave

I always try to put mine in the LR so it looks like it`s growing out the rock.

Either find a nice hole on the rock wall or bury in the sand - but not close to where any pistol shrimps might have a tunnel or cave. Be careful when pushing them into the sand or rock that you don't apply pressure to the "meaty" area of the tube. That's the worm.

I usually found a hole in the rock wall that was big enuf to hold him, but not too big they'd fall into the hole either.
