Kenya tree question

What is the easiest way to get a kenya tree off of the rock it is on? Can you just use a knife and cut as close to the rock as possible or is there an easier way to do this whole thing?

Any answers would be great.

Fragging with a sharp knife is about the only way to move it in a timely fashion. If you place a smaller rubble rock touching the stalk, the coral will eventually grow onto the new rock but they take a considerable amount of time to do it. Also keep in mind that if fragged, the stalk left behind should eventually grow into a new coral.

If you want the piece left behind to have a better chance of survival, cut it about ½" up from where it's attached. You can pretty much cut it where you want though. Be sure the new frag is placed in a similar light/flow area once it's been attached. It will have a better opportunity to recover faster. Once it's doing well, it can be placed in a more desired area that will still meet it's needs.

When attaching the new frag, a shallow plastic dish with rubble rock on the bottom and veil material/cheese cloth covering the top will be the easiest. Make sure it is in an openly lit area with low water flow.
