Life span on Blue Tux Urchins...

Any idea what the life span is of a Blue Tux urchin...?
Mine bit it..
Wasn't moving much and left his "crown" of coral go...
I called it today...
pulled him from the tank and looked @ his mouth, was gone...
so I rinsed him off and his insides washed out so now I got a cool shell from him...
I had him for almost a year...

I have had mine for over 2 years, so I think yours was old when you got it or something else
