I have two tanks that I'm looking to put lighting on for a reef and wanted some opinions! First I have a 30 gallon cube and I'm between a 150watt metal halide and a 72 watt total t5 with 2 10k and two antics, all im putting are the basics leathers and soft corals!

And the other is a 55 oceanic breeder Thats 30in x 18 x18 and I was looking a putting a 8 bulb t5 system on it! Is that sufficient for the basic reef of soft corals

that 8 bulb t5 for the 55 will let you keep pretty much any coral you can think of

Both of the fixtures you are looking at will do what you want and much more for you!

For the 55 you could definitely get away with a 4 bulb fixture for just softies and LPS, the breeder I'd have to know the dimensions of and see the T5 fixture you're looking at before I could say but the 150w MH would be more than enough for what you're looking at

You might just save some money here!
