not sure if that last question was for me or not, but my husband is going to build a wooden box top for the tank, and mount the reflector and lights inside. Would this be ok? or would it get the wood to hot and be a fire hazord? I'll pass the info onto him to mount them at least 8 inches off the eggcrate.
 
I just got a satellite fixture 4*65 watt for my 55gal (ironically from premium aquatics). And that comment by captivereefs made me nervous. The only thing I notice that might be considered bad, although I have heard it is normal is that only half the bulb seems to light up for the actinics. :?
 
The dual actinic is susposed to be half dim. One side is 420nm and one side is 460nm.
