Lights on for 8 hours dusk and dawn hour before and after four 3 watt LEDs. 14 hours for moon light four 1 watt LEDs. Should it be completely dark?

Sorry, yes. For instance I run moonlights for one hour then lights on for 8 hours, another 2 hours of moonlights and then total darkness for 13 hours.

Yeah I wouldn't run those moonlights all night. Four 1 watt blue leds is still a little bit of light. Give them some dark lol

I have my tanks at 10hr light and 14hr darkness. You should keep the moon lights off during this darkness period as the others said.

Wow thanks. Bottom line is it needs to be dark. I'm gonna do 6 hours of dark

Ok been a few days now with around 6 hours dark. Is there a reason for the darkness? Is it for the fish or the corals?

Yes animals need a day-night cycle just like us humans do. Fish sleep to recover energy and corals feed mostly at night.

Ok so the moonlight are to bright? It was 4 one watt LEDs across a 75 gallon

I've been diving at night and generally do not see the moon .

Turn off the flashlight and pitch black

I would say the "moonlights" are more useful for us keepers as night viewing lights and dawn dusk simulators.
