Lionfish Question?

Ok lion fish have venom glands. Right. So when they die what happens to the venom is it released, can u still get stung if u touch it after it dies.
Please reply to this issue if u have any experience of lionfish dying and stings.

The following are quotes out of Fenner's book The Conscientious Marine Aquarist. "Lionfish are decidedly dangerous to handle, alive or dead". "Many people have been stuck when not exhibiting care while netting or moving a lion, either dead or alive". HTH
