Live Rock Placement

Hi everyone!

Just a quick question about live rock placement. I notice that my fish mostly hide out in the back of my tank as my live rock is placed mostly along the center of the tank with about 4" behind my "wall". I've considered moving my rock all the way back to the point where it touches the back of the tank.

How does close does everyone else have their rock to the back of their tanks? Any downside to having it all the way back?

I still wanted to do it in a way to be able to have caves, etc.

Many of us actually lean rocks against the back of the tank. You can still create caves\run-through. just takes trial and error to create it how you want it. i find that long skinny ones work best when creating swimming behind the rock work

I have my LR on the back glass to keep the fish out front.

"Stacking" the rock on the back wall is a standard way of forcing the fish to swim in front so you can admire them. Make sure that your rock goes all the way to the bottom of your tank so you don't get any landslides.
