i just ordered some LR from liverocks.com, and i understand this comes uncured, so i have a seperate tank to cure it in all set up.

however, i am concerned about receiving one of the dreaded mantis shrimp. now i read on a thread somewhere here that you can dip the rock into sletzer water that has the appropriate SG to rid the rock of all unwanted inverts. is this true?

any other tips on how to make sure i dont end up with a thumbsplitter?

Carbonated water @ the correct salinity & temp or high salinity salt water. Although the company, liverock.com highly discourages these methods. They are essentially saying that by doing this, you are killing all the lifeforms off of their rock.

i wouldnt do that !! if ya curing and take your time ya will find what rock its in !! and then ya can trap him if not worst case break the rock to get at him !! when i got my rock from them they were swimming in the bottom of the bag so easy to pull out
