My wife is complaining that the tank being to noisy. My situation is the sump overflow hits a filter pad then through a white grate drops 6 inches and hits remaining water making noise.Constant sound of water raining,Is there any thing I can do to lessen the noise??( I know what your first thought was"get rid of the wife"!)Any other soultions would greatly be appreciated.Dont want to fill sump with bioballs concerned about nitrates.

I helped a friend set up a tank and had a similar problem, we fixed it by adding a sponge on top of the lower grate in the sump so the water was hitting it instead of the water. I think we had to double the sponge due to the depth of the water. HTH, Skip
