Long-nosed Butterfly

I've seen some pictures of the Yellow Long-Nosed Butterfly where the several dorsal fins are seperated and sticking up, and some others where the dorsal fins are barely visible - do they keep the dorsal fins flat most of the time, and occassionally stick them up??

my racoon butterfly will stick up his dorsal fin when threatened or spooked by something. sometimes it is a terratorial thing, sometimes about food. I think it is kind of like a dog raising it's hackles of a bird raising it's feathers
