Long-polyped toadstool info.

Have a long polyped toadstool and I turned off my skimmer while feeding phytoplan to my corals for 2 hours and when I came back it's polyps were retracted and was wondering why? I'm not worried as it's polyps are out now but why did it act like that?

And also when I glued the rock he was on to a plug I accidentally glued some of the trunk. Is that ok? It was awhile ago so I'd assume it is?
