I got a yellow longnose butterfly and am having a little trouble getting him to eat. I'm using a frozen saltwater multi-pack and thawing the cubes out and cutting them in half. I've been told its best to hand-feed these fish any input would be appreciated

They are very hard to keep in closed systems. I don't know about "hand feeding" as a hand in the tank would surely stress the fish out more. Try live food. Live black worms or brine shrimp.

well i just had a very successful feeding. I stuck with the multi-pack this time but used the brine shrimp cube, and he ate a whole half cube out of my hand

thanks for the advice on brine shrimp now i know he definitely eats that

pics of the yellow longnose are up on my profile check em out :)

Interesting. And it wasn't even afraid of your hand. I never would have thought a new, wild caught fish would act this way.

im not sure how long my LFS had the fish but they told me to handfeed him. But yea it took him a min. to come up to my hand but once he did he had no problem eating
