Hi

I've been told hair algae is very destructive in a reef tank. Where can I find a pic of it to correctly identify it? A lot of algae looks 'hair-ish' to me.

Thanks

Joe

There are lot's of different species of hair algae. So those many algaes may all be hair algae.

Here are a few species of hair algae that are commonly found in aquariums...

Bryopsis

Derbesia

Cladophoropsis (more of a turf algae, still hair like)

A google images search using those as the search term should provide lots of pics.
