magnesium level

I won my battle with bryopsis a month or so ago using the tech-m method raising my mag level to about 1800 or so. Since then, I haven't been able to get my mag level below 1500 to 1600. I do weekly 20% water chanes in my 20 gallon tank. I'm using reef crystals and the water tests at 1300. Is this what is keeping my level higher then normal? should I go back to regular IO. Also, is keeping your mag level that high doing any damage. Doesn't seem to bother my fish or inverts.

What test kit are you using for mag? You might be getting some error on your readings. Reef crystal is a good salt mix. It's not a good idea to use IO for reef tank.
