Maintenence on a refugium???????

I was wondering about the maintence of my fuge. I know I have to prune my calurpea. I also have a DSB in there so I know that i'm not suppose to disturb it cause of the release of toxins but would vaccuming the top surface to remove diatoms be okay? Or should I not disturb that either and just let it disappear on it's own? :?

let the fuge do its own thing....... You can add a few crabs and snials if you want but IMO you can let it go....
