Mantis Shrimp can be dangerous

Do you thin that a full grown Mantis shrimp can break 1/4 inch glass I was told that the force of impact from those hammers is like being shot with a 22 caliber hand gun and it hurt like hell:ermm:
 
Yeah they potentially could if they wanted to, they have a hard hit, but I doubt they would have any reason to hit the glass at full pelt. The bottom of the tank could be a target as they burrow so one may get to the bottom and try hit it, but again in all likely-hood they won't but it is a risk, even if one can't break the glass in one shot, it would crack.
 
No worries they won't break it like the guy said only the bottom would be at risk and in that case you would put a sheet of eggcrate under the sand
 
There are different types of Mantis Shrimp. Some get larger than others, and some have a much stronger hit. I believe 1/4" glass is safe, though.
