i have a lot of "marine snow"... i mean it looks like snow it's covering the under belly of my rocks but not on the top.. is this a bad thing? should i clean the rock?

if its organic, yes they should remove it over time.

or is it more of a hard, crusty white deposit?

looks like formations of snow... there are like snow flakes they look exactly like snowflakes, but only on the underneath of one big rock

really? i have a sponge in the tank already... that would be sweet. snowflakes turning into sponges? never heard of that. this is a great hobby...

No it is probably some q-tip sponges, the tips look alot like snow flakes. They usually mean you have alot of particulate matter in your water.
