What is the difference btwn the screw on MH bulbs and an HQI bulb? The HQI systems seem more expensive? Any difference in light spectrum or quality?

The hqi are a much better setup. The light is more intense than a standard mogul bulb. I have read that they are supposed to put out close to double the intensity.

Ive been told the HQI are alot hotter and they burn out quicker.. is this true?

well they should never be ran till they burn out ! should be changed out yearly imo

HQI also requires a glass shield between the bulb and the tank due to the high levels of UV that they put out. Regular MH bulbs put out UV as well, but the glass that the bulb is made of shields most of it.
