metal halide, t-5, or both?

I've had t-5 lighting for a while and really want halides so I can get sps corals and clams but which is better mh or both because I've seen a lot of fixtures that have both mh and t-5s

I believe those dual units have the T5's for the blues and the MH is more the "white". Least that's the way i see the setups sold and in stores too.

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

you can get SPS and clams with T5s, T5s grow SPS slightly better then halides as far as comparos say.

what is your tank dimensions and how many lamps are you using at what length?

and gmanns aren't even the as good as the cheaper ATI lamps. ATIs pump out more PAR and better lamp spectrums

i would recommend using a 6x39watt with individual reflectors and ATI lamps. wit this you shoudl be able to house SPS in the mid to top sections of your tanks and LPS on the substrate

the rule of thumb is to use one lamp per 3-5 inches of aquarium width wit ha tube extending the length of the tank.
