I am interested in what wattage MH's people would recommend over a 160 gallon tank. The tank is 28 inches tall, 20 wide, 68 inches long and the lights are going to be installed into the canopy. I am wanting to keep some sps and softies in the tank. I also would like to know what size of fans I would need to help keep it cool. TIA.

I would probably say, if you want to keep much in the way of high light corals, a 3x400w would be the way to go. 3x250 would be the minimum and you'd want to be sure and place the high light corals in the upper half of the tank if you went that route. I would probably put at least two 4" fans in the canopy. How tall is your canopy?

I would say 3x400's as well or SPS but for a mixed reef 3 x 250 would work. It does depend on your canopy heigh as well though. I would tryto ru at least 4-4" fans with 400 watt bulbs.
