Mh question

DO the mh lights made for aquariums have a special bulb in them? I've been looking around for mh lighting and they want thick cash for these lights. Then i found that Home depot has a 400w mh floodlight for about $200.00 will these work or do i have to get aquarium specific mh lighting?

The home depot MH bulbs will have a very low Kelvin temp, for a reef you want a higher K temp, 6500K and up. The home depot bulbs are probably somewhere around 4000K-5500K. You can always get the fixtures from Homedepot and the bulbs from an aquarium lighting supply.

Did you find these in the electrical department? What wattage of MH bulb do they support?

I was on their web site www.homedepot.com and just searched metal halide in their search engine and voila they have a few ranging from 175 watts to 400 watts
