I bought some mini sea star and they came with a small bunch of micro algae. My question is should I put it in my main tank or should I put it in the spot behind my where my pump flows with the bio balls are that I plan to take out? Any imput here would be greatly appreciated. Oh and it's green in color. Will it die if I don't have any light back there for it? Looks fern like.

Yep that's it. Should I put it in my main tank or behind where my water flows out? Thanks.

From what I understand, it needs a good bit of light. If you decide to put it in an overflow, get a grow light for it. I'm getting some myself. It's great for nutrient export.
