Micro bubbles

Just set up my protein skimmer and when I turn it on my tank completely fills up with micro bubbles. I have tried lowering the amount of air going into the tube, but if I do that the skimmer stops creating scum into the collection cup. What can I do to stop the micro bubbles?

Skimmers take a lot of time to break in. Set the gate valve as wide open as it’ll go.
Make sure the pump is fully submerged as well.
Can you tell us more about the skimmer? Not all are created equal and diagnosing the issue is difficult without knowing more about it.
