Micro Particles and filter media?

I seem to have very small micro particles floating around in the tank. So I was thinking what I could do was put the carbon bags I use in my fluval, inside another filter bag to try and trap these tiny particles.? (The only thing I have in the fluval at this time is the GAC, inside their own nylon mesh bags)

a) Will that work sufficiently?
b) What micron size? I've seen 50 micron, 100, 180, 300... What, if any, would be best?

Any other suggestions?

The finer the micron the faster it will plug up. I ran 100 micron in my sump all the time in the beginning and if I did not watch it would plug up causing the water in the sump to raise. You have a fluval how about just using the poly fiber? I ran that in my fluval on my FW tank and it worked fine, less chance of it getting plugged.
I would lay down a layer of poly fiber then put in carbon on top of that and in the 2nd chamber I would just run fiber.

Just run filter media for a few days at a time. It won't choke up in that time.
